Description

The impact programme was launched by the UK Department for International Development (dfid) in december 2012. The programme aims to build a viable impact investing ecosystem in Africa and South Asia with the ultimate goal of improving the livelihoods of the poor in some of the world’s most fragile and low-income countries.

Main Objectives

Main Activities

A grant-making facility to support a portfolio of market-building projects aimed at addressing some of the barriers preventing others from making these types of investments in Africa and South Asia.
• Two investment vehicles, the Impact Fund (fund of funds) and the Impact Accelerator (direct investments).
A Technical Assistance Facility to support investee companies.
