Description

Globally, more than 800 million people still live without electricity and about 3 billion people lack access to clean cooking solutions. This has a dramatic impact on social development, economic opportunities, health, education and the environment. EnDev’s involvement focuses on providing access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy as a means to deliver social, economic, and environmental change.

Main Objectives

To improve the lives of the most vulnerable people, ensuring no one is left behind.

Main Activities

Supporting the supply side to deliver high quality products and services – even in remote rural areas
Creating demand for modern energy services ranging from raising awareness to financial schemes to support uptake
Improving the enabling environment for energy access, including regulations to support a resilient business sector and markets for modern energy

Outcomes and Impact

9 million people with access to modern energy
8 million household members with improved cooking solutions
1 million households with electricity
3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions saved per year
53,860 small- and medium-sized enterprises with a modern form of energy for productive uses
27,390 social infrastructures with a modern form of energy (among them 18,059 schools and 2,000 health centers)
